CLOUD ROAD MUSIC PRODUCTION Competition 2025

Welcome to the Cloud Road Music Production Competition! If you know your way around a DAW, then this competition is for you.

The task is to create a soundtrack (up to 2 minutes) to suit the below piece of artwork by the artist KAGAYA, titled “Passage”. You are free to interpret this in any way you prefer, there is no limitation on genre or amount of instruments used.

Competition details

  • Submission will be open from November 1 2025 to December 1 2025.

  • Open to all students studying towards a music degree in New Zealand and Australia.

  • Winners will be announced in December and contacted by email


Prize Details

  • Competition winners will receive state of the art sample libraries from Sample Logic LLC, an award-winning company whose products are used globally by musicians, including DJs, performers, and professionals in film, TV, and gaming.

  • Track length up to 120 seconds (non-looping)

  • Music format WAV 24bit 44.1kHz

  • Screenshot of DAW session prior to export

  • Ownership: All participants retain the copyright of their original music submissions.

  • Consent for Use: Winners agree to the public sharing of their name, institution, and original composition on Cloud Road Music's promotional platforms, including but not limited to websites, social media, press releases, and marketing materials.

  • Publicity Rights: Winners authorize Cloud Road Music to use their name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, and biographical information for worldwide advertising, trade, and promotional purposes without additional compensation or notification.

  • Sponsor's Rights: The competition sponsor, Sample Logic, retains all rights to its provided sample libraries. Participants are not conferred any rights beyond those explicitly stated by the sponsor.

  • Liability Limitation: Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cloud Road Music and its partners from any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense that may occur in connection with participation in the Competition.
